| “There is no measure of our value more critical than the standards by which our clients and talent value and judge us.” |
| Smooch Repovich Reynolds, CEO |
Career sustainability is as much about self-introspection and the rigors of analyzing who you are as a person as it is about making strategic career choices. Our career sustainability services offer a type of “career boot camp” approach to help you think about these issues and more. Our programs are designed to make you think about your career journey, where you have been and where you want to go… throughout the process we provide you with expert coaching to help you design a strategic plan to achieve your career goals – whether it is reinventing yourself or staying on the same path you have been traveling – this is where our broad expertise helps you succeed. Personal and professional life balance and goals are, of course, a core part of our discussions as well.
Whether you are at a mid-career crossroads when you want to ensure development of a sustainable career plan and path, or in the later stages of your career and want to navigate a completely different professional path that enhances your ability to stay engaged professionally, our approach will help you think more clearly about what’s next. You must be purposeful in designing your own future, and you can approach this career plan at your own pace – take 6 weeks or 6 months – we think about this as an investment in your career destiny. In fact, consider this an investment in tomorrow’s career satisfaction and life success.
Our program is led by our CEO, Smooch Repovich Reynolds, whose 24 years of career navigation expertise, leadership, and experience with professional sustainability, will surely help advance your career desires and help set performance goals. Prospective clients would include:
- Talent: professionals who are experiencing unforeseen career challenges and need objective coaching about navigating an operating environment differently, assessing their own skills and leadership qualities more effectively, or an executive who has been displaced and is seeking independent career advice on their own or with an outplacement budget.
- Corporations’ human resource executives: management teams who have colleagues requiring external coaching assistance to help them stay on track within the organization or improve their capacity to contribute productively at the C-Suite level.
We are the experts who will provide you with direct, candid and appropriate advice to get your career focused with a sustainability emphasis to weather any challenge.
Level One: Back to the Basics (B-2-B)
In this initial step to assessing your career and designing a plan that suits you, we will review the basics, which many people don’t factor into their thinking about creating a plan for the future. This part of the process will allow us to get to know one another better and will provide thought-provoking discussion points for a candidate to reflect upon their past, what is happening today in their career, and begin thinking about reshaping their career direction for the future. Some of the topics we will cover:
- Career Review: where have you been and where do you think you want to go?
- Resume Review and strategy discussion.
- Assess Current Market (compensation, career path, etc.).
- Self-Perception: the role it plays in career navigation and participation in an assessment tool exercise.
Deliverables: career review, resume review and assessment, and personalized career market analysis.
Level Two: Career Springboards: How Do They Work?
This phase will explore the realities of who you are as a person and how that translates directly into the type of professional you are today and could become tomorrow. We will explore your views, professional desires, and focus on the reality of self-perception and how that affects your career, both positively and negatively. As a part of Level Two, our goal is to develop your self-awareness about key personal attributes that can be leveraged to advance your career, as well as discuss any areas for improvement. Some of the factors that are critical to understanding how a career springboard works include:
- SWOT Analysis (Strengths/Weaknesses/Opportunities/Threats):
- Self Perception (it’s all about your view of you).
- Market Perception (discussions with others assist in determining an accurate view of who you are).
- Clarifying your own perceptions through the understanding of others’ perceptions.
- Realities of Your Current Situation – real-time in the workplace issues you are confronting.
- Portfolio of Skill Sets – discussion of what is transferable for the future.
- Building the Springboard – defining your springboard and how to leverage it for success.
- Assess Quality of Life Priorities.
- Resume Review and Refinement.
- Review Organizational Challenges – corporate cultures, what works and what doesn’t.
- The Answers – do you have a springboard or not?
Deliverables: SWOT and self-perception analysis, springboard elements, and an analysis of organizational challenges.
Level Three: Defining Your Career Trajectory
If you think about a career as being ever-changing, meaning it grows with you as you develop and mature as a professional, then you want to assess the type of trajectory that feels right for you and how you want your career to develop. Determining what that trajectory might be is where we come in – our role in this part of the process is to help you define your future path. Some of the topics we will address include:
- How do you determine what career trajectory will work for you?
- What should be your focus and direction?
- Why what everybody else is doing may not be the right path for you.
- What is important to you – your aspirations.
- Resume review and refinement.
- Networking strategies beyond the obvious.
- Strategy development to increase executive presence & political savvy.
- Realities of the workplace – learn to leverage the organization (i.e. operating culture) – are your “dialed in?”
Deliverables: career trajectory input and design, comparison of career norms versus yours, personalized networking strategies, and learning how to “dial in” to your operating environment.
Level Four: Execution to Goal
The sole purpose of working with an executive coach is to eventually realize your intended career goal as well as other life choices – in this phase we will work with you to map out the exact strategies and plans that you will need to advance your career to the next level and be on your way to the ultimate career goal you have chosen. Some of our execution to goal mapping activities will include the following:
- Intangible human assets, a review of the assessment tool results (online assessment tool specifically chosen for you) with the goal to define success qualities.
- Strategy for improvement.
- “Weaknesses” in leadership style -- identifying and learning how to overcome.
- Market trends and your market worth.
- Resume review and refinement.
- Accountability – taking ownership of your future.
Deliverables: career plan map, understanding your ownership in the process, and defining your success path.
