Outlook 2005

I am pleased to report that 2005 appears to be a continuation of an improved economy much like what was witnessed in the last two quarters of 2004.  Senior management teams are continuing to hire in a highly thoughtful manner and are investing the right amount of strategic thinking into redefining functions to support future courses charted for their companies.  In addition, leadership teams are also shifting their thinking about the hiring markets as they recognize that flexibility, open-mindedness and hiring based on the "upside potential" of wedding the intangible qualities of a candidate with the technical skills required to handle any given position are critical.  This blend is the underpinnings of successful hiring -- the bottom-line being that intangible leadership qualities of talent are outweighing technical skills in most executive decisions.

Overall, I believe that this year we will experience continued steady hiring at the senior- and mid-levels in corporations, and that the marketplace will see the unemployment-employment pendulum swing into some sort of balance in the center of the hiring spectrum -- good news for both talent and corporations, both of which have existed in a static state during the three-year recession.

Cheers to a successful 2005!
