My Thoughts About Hiring and the Current Economy

I've been thinking about today's economy vís a vís executive search and the reengineering of companies and what that means. Here are my thoughts for you to consider…

Q1 results were dismal for many companies…. Q2 has executives walking on eggshells until the financial results are finalized. It is human nature to delight in the bull markets and fear the bear. It is also our tendency to pare back employment forces almost indiscriminately in an attempt to reduce overhead and contribute, however humbly, to increasing profits in whatever way possible. However, superior talent and sharp, precise consolidation management is critical when a company faces mediocre financial results in a bull market.

Most of you know our firm for its strategic executive search services in the communications, investor relations and marketing disciplines…we've influenced and shaped these functions in pre-IPO, small, mid- and large-cap companies for nearly 14 years. However, for those of you who are not aware of our firm's management consulting services, let me share with you how The Repovich-Reynolds Group (TRRG, Inc.) works with companies during an economic slowdown. With our extensive expertise in human resources and human capital development, our recruiters also bring first hand knowledge from a perspective that is different than search - the notion of staff re-engineering designed to capitalize on and take advantage of the few opportunities when the financial markets are a bit unforgiving.

Keeping in mind the goal of creating more highly effective corporate functions, and ones that are far more efficient in their practices, we work with companies to closely examine how they may best leverage three functions: corporate communications/public relations, investor relations, and marketing. As noted in a recent study conducted jointly by Burson-Marsteller (a renowned global public relations consultancy) and Fortune magazine entitled "On the Minds of CEOs," it is evident that CEOs are squarely focused on leveraging external and internal communications to evolve their corporations into a more competitive marketplace position. TRRG, Inc. works with companies to realize those intended goals through our management consulting services and re-engineering consulting practice.

If you are contemplating how to redefine your company's communications, investor relations or marketing functions before the financial markets dictate your next fiscal quarter's results, we look forward to having a discussion with you. In the interim, as always, we appreciate your relationship with our firm whether you have interfaced with us as a client, prospective candidate, or source of professionals considering a career change.

Sincerely,

Smooch Repovich Reynolds
CEO
